Dr. phil. Roland Poellinger

poellinger web smallThis website is maintained by Dr. Roland Poellinger, researcher in the project group Philosophy of Pharmacology (ERC grant 639276; principal investigator: Dr. Barbara Osimani) at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP), LMU Munich (Philosophy of Science section, director: Prof. Dr. Stephan Hartmann). Roland Poellinger is also an associate faculty member of the Doctoral School of Philosophy at the University of Pécs, Hungary. He received his doctoral degree with a thesis on causal knowledge from LMU at the Seminar of Logic and Philosophy of Science (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Godehard Link – Logic; committee: Prof. Dr. Thomas Augustin – Statistics, Prof. Dr. Klaus Schulz – Computational Linguistics, Prof. Dr. C. Ulises Moulines – Philosophy of Science). With professional experience in media design and video art Roland Poellinger has an additional research assignment in science communication and academic management at the MCMP. He runs the MCMP's LMUcast team and coordinates the MCMP internship program "Science & Communication".

Research interests in mathematical philosophy: Philosophy of Science and Formal Epistemology, Causal Modeling and Causal Paradox, Conditionals, Foundations of Probability, Bayesian Reasoning, Bayesian Networks, and Graph Theory
